IMG completed an upgrade of the entire Debarker hydraulic system, this was carried out in conjunction with a full electrical and controls upgrade (carried out by others). The old hydraulic system was constantly leaking, had a range of components that had reached the end of their service life and were now obsolete.

Initial work involved carrying out a detailed assessment of the plant operation and discussion with key stakeholders. From this we were able to develop detailed design and manufacturing drawings which were then used to tie in with the electrical and control systems and early stages planning of the site installation. A key part of the design was to move to a fully electrical controlled system away from the old manual lever controlled setup and to integrate system operating parameters such as temperature, level, pressure and filter monitoring into the control system to give better machine control, protection and serviceability.

The HPU was built and tested in our Rotorua workshop before being installed on site. Site installation included replacement of all field piping and hydraulic hoses along with system commissioning and setup carried out in conjunction with the electrical and controls engineers.
